1 out of every 6 girls does not live to see her 15th birthday.
Every sixth girl child's death is due to gender discrimination.
Condition of majority of those who survive is no good, as 22 million girls below the age of 18 years
are forced into marriage against their wishes many a times to males twice their age.
Female mortality exceeds male mortality in 224 out of 402 districts in India.
Total adult female literacy is 48% in India
200 million women are illiterate in India
I know the above mentioned figures seem unbelievable. But, unfortunately they are true. The truth is harsh;because it jolts us to see the reality. We can turn our back and remain in our comfort zones. And keep telling ourselves that it doesn’t affect us or turn and face the facts. Woman Empowerment and Development is born because we could no longer remain immune. Woman Empowerment and Development (WES)
